Gen-Xers with kiddos

We are Heath and Denise (the gen-Xers) and our kids are 6 year old Will and 5 year old Abby, both of whom we were blessed to adopt in March 2004 from Samara, Russia.

our snow experiment

3:30pm: Here's our snow.

5:00pm: Hey, why is that snow getting so wet?

6:00pm: bye, bye snow!

We checked out a book at the library today called Snow Lion, where a lion from the jungle tries to take snow from the mountains back to show to his friends. It melts, of course, and it got me to thinking that the kids don't really understand that snow is frozen water droplets. So when we got home, we did a little snow experiment. The kids were pretty surprised to see what happened and I was surprised that it took over three hours for our snow to completely melt.

Sounds like fun, but not an experiment we could do here in South Louisiana ... even if we GOT snow,it would most likely melt on contact!
