Gen-Xers with kiddos

We are Heath and Denise (the gen-Xers) and our kids are 6 year old Will and 5 year old Abby, both of whom we were blessed to adopt in March 2004 from Samara, Russia.

endangered bears seek refuge in unlikely place

Growl! This is a bear cave!

Tonight was bear night! While Heath set up our tent, a.k.a. bear cave, the kids gathered up every stuffed bear in our house. Then it was time to hibernate! We sang our hibernation song - you can sing along at home, too. (To the tune of "Alouette": Hibernation, time for hibernation. Hibernation, time to go to sleep!) The bears were a little restless in the cave but snuggled down and did some good snoring while the snow was outside. But fairly soon it was time to pretend that spring was coming, the grass was green, the flowers were blooming and our little bears needed to look for fish in the "pond" - our bathtub! They are now hibernating in their own beds, at least until tomorrow morning.
